Lisbon City Council councillor Ângelo Pereira, the Chief Marketing Officer of Altice Portugal, João Epifânio, the director of the Underdogs platform, Catarina Pedroso, and musician Sam The Kid, representing the Chelas é o Sítio Association, joined the director of Last Tour Portugal, Diogo Marques, to share the big news, especially the new stage named after the city, the latest additions to the line-up, the curatorships Underdogs in the visual arts and Chelas é o Sítio in the programming of local music artists, and the reinforcement of the sustainability strategy, with the offer of a discount for holders of the navigante® Card as an incentive to use public transport when traveling to Parque da Bela Vista on August 29, 30 and 31. NEW CONFIRMATIONS

Among the new confirmations unveiled today for the 3rd edition of MEO KALORAMA, we highlight the line-up for the PANORAMA stage, which is entirely dedicated to dance music and this year features some LGBTQ+ artists, full of world to offer. CHERIII, the Frenchman who dominates the world of electronic music, lives to work on the sounds that inhabit the entire queer universe and keep a dance floor at the highest point of energy. Among the new confirmations, there are many DJs who will dress up the nights on the PANORAMA stage. Highlights include DJ LAMBO, DJ PYTHON, KAMPIRE, YIZHAO and KIDDY SMILE. KETIOV, the Polish producer who works at the limits of experimentation and never shies away from the instincts of his creative process, promises a lot of diversity on stage. Another of the big names among the new confirmations is CC:DISCO!, the DJ who thrives on the challenge of new paths. In 2023, she released her debut EP on Erol Alkan’s independent label Phantasy Sound. Both “Chez Moi” (with the participation of Confidence Man) and “Out Of Your Mind” were instant hits, two songs that she will certainly bring with her to Portugal. CORMAC won’t go unnoticed either. The queer Irish DJ is making his mark on dance floors all over the world with his unique vision of HI-NRG, house and techno. MERVE, NOIA, ZSONGO CLUB SHOWCASE, FABIANA PALLADINO, MONOBLOC and CATANA round off the program of the PANORAMA stage.

For the third year running, MEO KALORAMA is strengthening its involvement with the community, once again giving voice to the Chelas é o Sítio initiative, a project with the signature of musician Sam the Kid. In this 3rd edition, the festival will once again host a showcase of artists from the neighborhood, who combine different sounds. Muleca XIII, a native of Rio de Janeiro who has been living in Portugal for several years, offers a fast-paced and often improvisational rap. The program will also feature rap artists Vilson and Landzs. Pop is represented by the artist Brisa.

MORE LISBON

More than just a summer festival, MEO KALORAMA has established itself as a major Music, Art and Sustainability event with an unparalleled involvement with the community. As the only major summer festival to take place annually in Lisbon, this 3rd edition will be marked by its even stronger connection with the city, with the people of Lisbon and the community that, since the first edition, has been part of the moments of sharing and communion that this event provides. In 2024, one of the stages will therefore be named after the city. The brand new LISBOA stage will feature names such as Loyle Carner, English Teacher, Glockenwise, Yves Tumor, Jalen Ngonda, Nation of Language, among others. There will be a total of 6 nationalities, with 4 national artists – including a local from Chelas (Landzs) – a Mercury Award winner (Ezra Collective) and 2 queer artists (Yves Tumor and Filipe Catto) bringing the city’s stage to life.

Another great novelty is the partnership with navegante®, excellent news for all Lisbon residents who hold this card and who will be able to enjoy a discount of 5 euros on the purchase of daily tickets and 25 euros on the three-day festival pass. This partnership will come into effect on July 4th. For all those who want to experience the festival 100%, MEO KALORAMA is renewing its partnership with Lisboa Camping, which offers camping and bungalows with various accommodation options. To take advantage of this partnership, simply go to https://lisboacamping.com/ and present the following promotional codes: for a camping tent, the code KALORAMACAMP; for a bungalow, the code KALORAMABUNGALOW. As was the case in 2023, in this 3rd edition there is also the possibility of accommodation in Glamping – DOMO Camp, providing an even more comfortable stay. All the offers are complemented by a free shuttle service between Lisboa Camping and the festival site.

MUSIC ART AND SUSTAINABILITY

In 2023, MEO Kalorama was an absolute success in terms of waste management. The event managed to reduce plastic by 40% and diesel consumption by 7% compared to its debut edition. In this 3rd edition, LAST TOUR, promoter of MEO KALORAMA, consolidates the 3 pillars of the festival, Music, Art and Sustainability, honoring the distinction with the prestigious B CORP certification, which attests to its commitment to the community and the planet, in line with the UN Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals. One of the great novelties of 2024 is the BALORE area, a space, a point, a Seed, Sustainable, Safe, Social and Purposeful place to visit at MEO KALORAMA, where everyone can get information about the festival’s values and commitments to environmental and social causes. PÚRPURA Point – Information on preventing and reporting harassment and sexist violence. ARCO ÍRIS Point – Information on MEO KALORAMA’s commitment to the LGBTQ+ movement. GREEN POINT – Information on MEO KALORAMA’s environmental measures. ACCESSIBILITY Point – Information on the festival’s accessibility areas. INCLUSION point – Information on the collaborations and alliances with social and community projects in which MEO KALORAMA participates.

MEO KALORAMA ON TOUR

The WE ARE MEO KALORAMA community has gained momentum over the years, standing out for its immense desire to create a real community that is essentially connected by sharing dreams and values. After the project “7 people, 7 hills, 7 stories”, produced in the context of the 2023 edition and which gave voice to various stories of very different people who live in the city of Lisbon, in 2024 the WE ARE MEO KALORAMA community will be able to come together in MEO KALORAMA ON TOUR, a concept that brings together various events that will take place in the capital until the date of the festival. This project kicked off today with the Unsafe Space Garden in the context of the Press Conference. This is followed by the Sunset Party at El Corte Inglês, the Slow Down initiative, the small surprise musical moments “on the move” and the Sunset Beach Party, the last big event before MEO KALORAMA’s long-awaited opening. The full program of these events will be revealed soon.

MEO KALORAMA CONTINUES TO WIN AWARDS

The line-up for the 3rd edition of MEO KALORAMA is once again based on the careful and meticulous curation that has been established since its first edition, always focusing on the diversity of national and international names, both new and established. This recognition is evident in the prizes won in the two editions of the Iberian Festival Awards – Best New Festival and Best Live Performance (Nick Cave) in 2022 and Best New Festival and Best Live Performance (Florence & the Machine) in 2023. The 2024 edition of MEO KALORAMA has already been highlighted by the prestigious Condé Nast and The Guardian as one of this summer’s best European festivals.

KALORAMA IN MADRID

After two successful editions in Lisbon, KALORAMA is coming to the Spanish capital in 2024, taking place simultaneously in both capitals. KALORAMA Madrid will be held outdoors at the IFEMA Madrid Exhibition Center from August 29 to 31, with limited capacity.

”We’re back for the 3rd edition of a festival which, despite its young age, is already an essential and clearly distinctive festival in the city of Lisbon, and which marks the end of the ‘festival season’ at national level. Whether it’s the outstanding line-up, the urban art on offer or the promotion of sustainable practices and behavior, MEO KALORAMA synthesizes the same values and concerns as MEO on the way to its ultimate purpose, which is to ‘connect people to life’. But we don’t want to stop there. Our goal is to expand this work to all the festivals and events in which we are involved, providing an inclusive experience where access to shows is for everyone.

That’s why the 2024 edition of MEO KALORAMA will bring some new features in various areas of intervention and improvements to existing structures. There will be a strong focus on disabled mobility (toilets, a wheelchair workshop, platforms, adapted shuttles, bars and accesses), on the inclusion of deaf people – focusing on Portuguese sign language or dedicated spaces so that they can feel the sound – and also on a sensory space for neurodivergent people. Blind people will be able to count on audio descriptions of menus and spaces. Finally, the personal assistant for people with a disability of 60% or more will be offered a ticket and a specialized support team will be on the ground to accompany anyone who needs it. The issue of accessibility has been a concern since the first edition. However, we decided to reinforce investment in this area to make MEO KALORAMA even more accessible and inclusive, implementing improvements within the scope of the award from Turismo de Portugal and the Rehabilitation Institute, which considered MEO KALORAMA to be the most accessible festival in 2023.”
