It was three days of communion, of a story that is being written year after year under the commitment to the excellence of the line-up, the visual arts and sustainability. MEO KALORAMA 2024 closes its 3rd edition to the sound of Burna Boy, DJ GLUE B2B SHAKA LION duo, Yves Tumor and DJ Python and promises to return in 2025 on dates to be announced soon. In line with the two previous editions, MEO KALORAMA continues to be home to several nationalities. As well as national audiences from all over the country, the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, Italy and the United States are some of the countries of origin of the foreign visitors who have once again chosen Lisbon to celebrate music.

The 10 moments that marked the 3rd edition of MEO KALORAMA

With three weeks to go until the start of the 3rd edition of MEO KALORAMA,which takes place in Parque da Bela Vista on 29, 30 and 31 August, it’s alreadypossible to draw up a detailed itinerary to enjoy every moment of the only majorsummer festival held annually in Lisbon. Over three days, the WE ARE MEOKALORAMA community will be able to enjoy 53 performances spread over 4stages: the MEO Stage, the San Miguel Stage, the Lisbon Stage and thePanorama Stage.

The MEO KALORAMA ON TOUR program – which aims to bring together the WE AREMEO KALORAMA community in several unique events leading up to the festival -kicked off on June 25 with the Press Conference that took place at Cais das Colunasand where the full line-up for the 3rd edition of the festival was presented, as well asother news, namely the partnership with the navegante® card, which allows discountson the purchase of the 3-day pass and the day ticket (see here). The moment wasmarked by the performance of Unsafe Space Garden, one of the bands on the MEOKALORAMA line-up, who gave a unique performance with messages of positivity andinclusion, using their famous posters, megaphones and circus interactions.

MEO KALORAMA and Lisbon met today at Cais das Colunas, one of the capital’s ex-libris, which inspired the image of the 3rd edition of the only major summer festival held annually in the city. Lisbon City Council councillor Ângelo Pereira, the Chief Marketing Officer of Altice Portugal, João Epifânio, the director of the Underdogs platform, Catarina Pedroso, and musician Sam The Kid, representing the Chelas é o Sítio Association, joined the director of Last Tour Portugal, Diogo Marques, to share the big news, especially the new stage named after the city, the latest additions to the line-up, the curatorships Underdogs in the visual arts and Chelas é o Sítio in the programming of local music artists, and the reinforcement of the sustainability strategy, with the offer of a discount for holders of the navigante® Card as an incentive to use public transport when traveling to Parque da Bela Vista on August 29, 30 and 31. The line-up that was sealed today already included big names such as Burna Boy, RAYE, Massive Attack, Sam Smith, LCD Soundsystem, The Smile, Peggy Gou, Jungle, The Kills, Loyle Carner, Ana Moura, Fever Ray, Gossip, Filipe Catto, Jalen Ngonda, Olivia Dean, Emmy Curl, Unsafe Space Garden, Soulwax, Yves Tumor, Bandalos Chinos, Cláudia Pascoal, dEUS, Luiza Lian and Moonchild Sanelly, among many others.

Taking place on the 29th, 30th and 31st of August, MEO Kalorama providesattendees with a unique blend of musical exploration and cultural immersion forthe ideal end-of-summer festival getaway.

Nigerian superstar Burna Boy, who made Afrobeats a worldwide musicalphenomenon will close the third day of MEO Kalorama on August 31, with hisirresistible fusion of dancehall, hip hop, R&B and Afrobeat. On the same day,RAYE, the champion of the Brit Awards 2024 – including Artist of the Year andBest Album of the Year, making her the most awarded artist ever at a singleceremony – will present songs from her debut album ‘My 21st Century Blues’.

Today’s additions also include Soulwax pioneers of electro-techno; YvesTumor, with their genre-crossing experimentalism, will turn MEO Kalorama intotheir playground for a once-in-a-lifetime show. Known for her soft voice and lyricsthat everyone can relate to, Olivia Dean one of the most nominated artists at theBrit Awards 2024 will perform on the second day of the festival, August 30th. Alsoperforming on this day are LCD Soundsystem, The Smile, Death Cab For Cutie+ The Postal Service, Jungle, Ezra Collective, The Kills, English Teacher,Glockenwise and Nation of Language.

Opening the 3rd edition of MEO Kalorama on August 29, British MC LoyleCarner will present his introspective hip-hop, offering a sincere look at life, loveand loss. Peggy Gou, known for her housey pop bangers and upbeatperformances and the spectacular and eccentric Karin Dreijer aka Fever Ray isalso gracing Lisbon and will perform their latest album, ‘Radical Romantics’, aswell as Beth Ditto with Gossip – who are back together with their first album in12 years, ‘Real Power’. Electronic duo Overmono will also take over the stagethis day with their euphoric sets.

Also announced today is the Argentinian indie pop sextet Bandalos Chinos andthe Portuguese singer Cláudia Pascoal that will present her “weird-kitsch”universe. The Brazilian musical and visual artist Filipe Catto and the elegant andtimeless soul of the American Jalen Ngonda will also be a part of the 2024 bill.

The Belgium-based rock band dEUS, will present their critically acclaimed 2023album ‘How To Replace It’; as well as Brazilian singer-songwriter and visual artistLuiza Lian who merges elements of Brazilian music, electronic music, and pop.Another line-up highlight includes South African Moonchild Sanelly, whodescribes her music as future-ghetto-punk and features on Ghetts’ forthcomingalbum, ‘On Purpose With Purpose’ and track ‘Laps’, their first reunion since theirviral smash ‘Mozambique’ in 2021. Additional Portuguese artists announcedtoday are Emmy Curl, a singer-songwriter and visual artist and Unsafe SpaceGarden, a band known for their experimental sound and shows.

It’s been almost two decades since we first heard ‘Losing my Edge’, ‘Drunk Girls’,or ‘Daft Punk Is Playing at my house’ by LCD Soundsystem who will no doubtignite the crowds at MEO Kalorama into dancing and singing. Massive Attackstands central to music history, credited with bringing trip-hop to the worldalongside Portishead and Tricky. Their legacy remains essential making them amust-see at the festival.

Sam Smith will unveil his soulful voice and immaculate songs at MEO Kalorama,promising a performance that captivates. Jungle will be bringing a fusion of soul,funk, hip-hop, and electronica to the crowds at MEO Kalorama.

The third edition of MEO Kalorama also welcomes the electronic duoOvermono, formed by Welsh brothers Tom and Ed Russell, as well as theeclectic British Yard Act. The post-punk Leeds quartet, English Teacher, andMercury Prize winners Ezra Collective will be making their debut at the summer’sconclusion event.

The Smile, a unique art-rock/post-punk project with Thom Yorke and JonnyGreenwood from Radiohead will dazzle crowds with their genre-defyingperformance. The Postal Service + Death Cab For Cutie celebrate the 20th anniversary of their classics, ‘Give Up’ and ‘Transatlanticism’, with BenjaminGibbard playing both albums in their entirety, commemorating their influentialjourney. The Kills make a return with their new album, ‘God Games’, showcasinga shift to piano-driven rock that will charm the crowds with an electrifyingperformance.

Ana Moura who blends fado with African roots and electronica, promises anirresistible celebration of diversity at MEO Kalorama. Ana Lua Caiano, aboundary-pushing artist who seamlessly merges Portuguese popular music withelectronic influences is also joining the bill, as well as the indie-rock of theBarcelos fab-trio, Glockenwise. The indie-pop Brooklyn band, Nation ofLanguage will energise the crowds by the synth-pop experts. Vagabon, theCameroonian-American multi-instrumentalist will also be taking the stage thissummer in Lisbon.
